THE TROLLS

The incredible expedition has already started… The Trolls is a wandering show, punctuated by immobile scenes. It is a Trollic comedy at the crossroads of Professor Tolkien and Jim Henson’s enchanted worlds. It is a silent extravaganza, in which gestures and attitudes create a universal language. You will then see how much those trolls, through their fascinating beauty, their gigantic ugliness, are maybe nothing but the juicy mirror of our both wonderful and pitiful humanity.

The story

Hunted down by ignoble Zorkmoll, the Brains Swallower, Narkoz-the-Wise and his clan come to seek refuge within the community of men. They need to discover as quickly as possible the chosen man, the only human being who will be able to open the doors to a new cycle of deliverance. The one to save the elfic world and to finally get through infamous Zorkmoll… The incredible expedition has already started. Get yourself ready, the trolls are already on the way and will soon be among us.

The Characters

[Narkoz] :

(Floor actor in a mask) He is the chief of the clan, the patriarch. Deaf and a chronic amnesiac, this retired wizard has a thorough knowledge of apriorism and thus masters the hypothetical knowledge very well. However, he is still considered as the great Wiseman by his community.

[Kastroll] :

(Floor actress) She is the driver of Torcatroll (the pedal machine). She has never passed her driving test and her parking operations are pathetic. Courageous and dauntless, she speaks a little the human language and acts as an (outrageous!) translator for her people. Joyful, her laughing face reflects her great generosity of spirit.

[Profitroll] :

(Floor actor and puppeteer) Grumpy, touchy, jealous and light-fingered, she’s the clan’s cook. She falls in love with every pretty boy she meets but she secretly dreams about the big love. Underneath her repulsive ugliness, she hides a great tenderness.

[Helmüt et Güntar] :

(Actor in a mask and puppet) Carried by Guntard, his scapegoat goblin, Helmut is a simple soldier who pretends to be a general of the army. He must (actually he’s supposed to) protect his clan. His war strategy is a real disaster and he is not even able to read an Ordnance Survey map. Beating in retreat remains his favourite activity!

[Zorkmoll] :

(Actor, stiltwalker in a mask) He is the baddie, a real wicked Troll like it is never been made anymore. This giant is known as the “Brains Swallower”, certainly because he hasn’t got any of it. He is as ridiculous as frightening. Treacherous and deceitful, he represents “the” power but his faculty of reasoning is tiny. He dreams about exterminating the clan and finally becoming the great imperator, holder of the elfic secrets

[Pitroll] :

(Floor actor and stage manager) Mysterious, silent, a bit obsessive, his mission consists in keeping Zorkmoll on a leash but he gets diverted from his task by the humans he meets. He dreams about driving Kastroll’s machine one day and steeling Jean-Claude, Profitroll’s rat.
